Scarface 1932
My son is a huge fan of the DePalma-Pacino Scarface, so he wanted to see the movie it was remaking.
I was very surprised how very similar they are to each other. Scenes and even dialogue are in this movie that are iconic from the DePalma version.
For the most part I like this movie. Inevitably the comparison comes up with DePalma's movie. And ultimately I like DePalma's better. I like the Miami setting and the much more intense and…

The Whip and the Body 1963
This is a Mario Bava movie, starring Christopher Lee and a bunch of Italian actors.
First of all, Dahlia Lavi is beautiful, and she very nearly carries this picture on her back. Her character has so many things going on that she’s trying to get across and for the most part it works. The People Under the Stairs 1991
I can’t believe I haven’t logged this yet. I saw this in the theater. A bunch of times on cable. And we covered it on Cult Film Club back in Summer 2015.
This is a quirky and weird movie by the master himself, Wes Craven. I still really enjoy it. That house is a set in and of itself. I wonder if Dan Ackroyd took inspiration from this when he wrote Nothing But Trouble. It’s very similar in plot.
Great cast, great setting, but also super weird and uncomfortable.

Big Trouble in Little China 1986
One of my all time favorites. It's hilarious, has great action. A fun story. Great dialogue.
I love the idea that this is a martial arts adventure movie that focuses on the American partner, and not the hero. If you shift the focus to Wang, he's the actual hero you'd see in a regular martial arts movie like this. Jack is just the annoyingly loud American sidekick. But it's all told from his point of view. That's fun.
Great movie.
