A LOT of this film's imagery made me really roll my eyes. It has Japan as a setting but really seems to portray it through a "Cool Japan" lens in a way that can get a little bit annoying. Like there's extended sequences in this movie where conversations have shakuhachi music over them for no discernible reason. And then there's allusions to Japanese character mascots in a way that seems to say "haha, isn't this funny and weird?"
That said, if you can get past that, it's a really solid movie. It's fast-paced, over-the-top, and frequently funny, with fairly solid fight choreography.
