Always surprised by how grounded the Coen’s get here. There’s still that smirk of irony, but there’s also a real, honest, sentimentality that follows and settles on Llewynn, through the subway, through the smoke, through the music. He’s a dirtbag, no doubt, but he’s also a dude who’s gotta pay his dues. He’s gotta run the cycle before the meteor strikes. Bob Dylan is right around the corner. Your corner. My corner. He’s there and we’re cooked. Some people figure it out beforehand, others gotta watch the scrawny fuck play a lil tune.

Prior, only knew his name and had a vague understanding of his place in music. Listened to the Alex Winter episode of Maron - became a little curious. Listened to Joe’s Garage - became a bit enamored. Watched this - convinced I’ll be rummaging through his archives for the next couple months. Quite the feeling when you stumble on an artist, even one concretely known in the culture/history, who invigorates…
