  Trying once again to subvert the superhero movie but not quite as successful this time. Misses the mark, goofy but not enough, serious but not enough, touching but not enough. Sad because I think all the ingredients were there.

  Sometimes less is more in storytelling. This is not the case. The two main characters feel underdeveloped. Why is this father like this? The whole explanation boils down to fascism=bad. While I agree with the sentiment here is not enough. Why is the son becoming a fascist? "Mhu I cannot find a job and I have fascist friends". Again not enough. You end up with unrelatable characters and a story not interesting enough to carry the movie.

  I have not read the book. I feel the psychedelic part should have been left out. A "simple" gay love story would have been much more effective and much more impactfull. Overall boring, many people were sleeping during the projection at #Venezia81
