When I saw it in the theater I remember liking it a lot but also felt like it was a “lesser Spielberg” movie…Can you imagine??! I think we were just spoiled with masterpiece after masterpiece for decades. I think I felt like the ending was abrupt & dumb at the time but I always kept thinking about this movie and do to this day. I often crave it. It’s a genuine certified iconic nightmare adventure. It moves so swiftly. The visuals are horrifying and realistic & so beautiful. Tommy’s crushing it and makes a hell of a dumbass dad. He’s so good in this.
