Dirljiva priča o sazrijevanju umjetnikova duha iznesena kroz prizmu zbivanja u njegovoj obitelji. Posebno su snažne scene koje prikazuju odnos njegove majke i oca - sukob poetske slobode i rigidnog razuma - njene težnje za ljepotom i ljubavlju naspram njegove srčane, ali ipak pomalo distancirane borbe za financijski boljitak obitelji. Film prenosi jednostavnu poruku: "Heart wants what heart wants!", ali u mnogome ostaje nedorečen i pomalo kaotičan.
