i'll be honest, i didn't feel bad at all for the young nazi boy who died in the end. you're telling me he changed his mind about being a nazi in a day? i don't believe that. unlearning all that hate is _much_ more difficult and takes _a lot_ longer. so yea, fuck him. i feel bad for the black kid who killed him tho, his future is doomed.

alien invasion used as an allegory for the struggles of poor poc and immigrants who are desperately escaping their home (that has become uninhabitable) only to be met with more violence, racism and xenophobia. a white person is, of course, the hero of the story; he gains understanding and empathy for the aliens after facing same treatment as them from the people who are supposed to be helping.
i had heard great things about this movie but im having a hard time understanding why.
