Coup de Chance 2023
An excellent contemporary thriller set in France and subtitled. The Wall Street Journal review gets its spot on April 5, 2024. Unfortunately, it’s two dimensional, purely materialistic, worldview imposes shall throughout. Woody Allen can imagine the better good life than the one depicted, well the life is so much more beautiful and rich than this sad postmodern Director could imagine.
I will have to go back and have another look at crimes and misdemeanors as well as matchpoint. The Wall Street Journal article compares it to some 1950s and 60s crime dramas including Louis Malles to the gallows and Chabrol’s wife.

Godzilla Minus One 2023
Excellent character development, ingenious plot, restrained, but brilliant special effects, very very good casting and acting. Just a first rate movie. Probably five full stars but I haven’t really figured out my rating system for perfection. Assuming five stars is perfection.
