  Could have been a four stars if not for constantly reminding us how shitty American toilets are. For a movie about routine and daily life, I was shocked at how engaged I was. Nice reminder to focus on what’s in front of you instead of the next thing on the horizon. Beautiful camerawork and a great performance by the lead saved this from being terrible

  I didn't think a film without much emotional substance or depth could speak to me but this was an unbelievable experience.
  This is a Sci Fi (maybe greatest of all time?) - not a drama. Denis executes the enormous task of bringing a massive world to life and tells the story masterfully. 10/10 pacing, visuals, SOUND. I've talked myself from a 4.5 to a 5.0 after thinking about it more - give me one sci fi that's better than this, you can't

  Loved that they called this movie “Godzilla” when the big lizard just a leg of the stool supporting the rest of the story. 

  It’s about intense human struggle and deals with complex issues such as guilt and trauma. It’s not bleak and sappy though, but optimistic, breathtaking and redeeming. 

  Its also about deconditioning a society that’s built upon honor at any cost, including death. It vividly shows the weakness and fallen state of humanity, magnified by post-war and hallowed out…

  Just rewatched making it the second time I’ve seen it. I think this is my favorite movie. Denis to the max.
