Hats off to David Leitch because this movie is great!! Gorgeous cinematography, intense stunts and somehow completely held my attention despite the whole movie being one train journey. Mostly amazing cast although unfortunately I have a strong dislike for joey king so her character was kinda ruined and I also didn't really like the man who plays the white death - he was kind of boring and not a convincing russian.
Very fun film with great visual effects but even better stunts. Maybe I just have a soft spot for action films but I was gasping at nearly every stunt - plus it was a brilliant window into actual stunt and production teams, very meta. Plot was a bit predictable and cheesy and some of the dialogue felt a little overly-scripted but the casting was brilliant. Ryan Gosling has undeniable rizz. Also love a film where I get to do lots of googling after - pretty epic that they actually did set a world record for number of car barrell rolls while filming!!
First film on letterboxd receiving ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me and completely deserving!! truly loved every part of this film. The music was gorgeous, the acting was stellar (robpat I was not familiar with your game), the plot was very fun and the creepers were a fantastic design. The gore and gross stuff (especially that woman and her sauce...) were nearly enough to knock a half star off for me, but the great humour overshadowed the gross bits. Would happily watch this film again and again!!
Okay so this film is objectively BAD. The singing sounds flat and overly autotuned, the casting for "take that" is awful and overall it feels like a movie made for an MIA project in high school (brutal, I know). THAT BEING SAID... I did cry (sob) my eyes out for the last 20-30 minutes because by then I'd caught on that the movie was not really about a 90s boy band but was instead about ageing, reconnecting with old friends and letting go of grief. Were the tears enough to boost my rating though? Nope.
