Exactly what I signed up based on the trailer and premise. Two great performances from Bill Skarsgard and Anthony Hopkins and a fun thriller with some twists. It just never did anything overly impressive beyond the handful of creative uses with the car and it’s torture capabilities.

A History of Violence 2005
Another good Cronenberg outing. Aside from The Fly I haven’t found any of his films to be more than just good but there’s nothing wrong with that. Enjoyed everything about this except I didn’t care for the Richie stuff. When Tom was keeping up the facade I was more invested and found his dynamic with his family more effective. Viggo Mortensen had such a killer 2000’s.

One of the handful of movies from 2024 that felt truly special in its place in the greater world of film. Masterfully directed by Ramell Ross and shot by Jomo Fray, I was immediately captivated by the unique POV and it only enhanced my time with the film. A powerful and tragic story told through the literal eyes of Elwood and Turner at Nickel Academy, this won’t be leaving my mind anytime soon. An essential movie.

Bong Joon-Ho is a master at this filmmaking stuff. Having only seen two of his darker works I wasn’t sure how I’d vibe with his goofier tone in anticipation for Mickey 17 next week. Turned out that I never should’ve doubted Bong because Okja was really great.
