Something I appreciate about this guy’s movies are the times he takes to have the characters just kind of sit there. I don’t know what it is but I know exactly that feeling. When you’re just sitting there not really knowing what to do or accepting or trying to accept this thing about your life. On the way out, on the way in. It anchors the whole farce of everything to this really human core. Loved it. Laugh, cry, etc.

The Man Who Laughs 1928
Crazy how fast paced this is and how much story is in it. It’s 2 hours! That’s what you’d expect from a movie today. I think one of the best silent movies I’ve ever seen and really a testament to the form. Conrad’s eye-acting is next level. They don’t make em like that anymore.
