Yeah this is bad. I actually thought the ending was a cool idea to tie it in to the rest of the movies but also made almost no sense. This did not earn the return of Tony Todd’s presence in any way shape or form. Quite insulting, actually.

Hard to believe Demi didn’t win for this. I get the disappointment but I still haven’t seen Anora as of this viewing so what do I know?

I like how this is shot and edited. Everything feels like sensory overload and makes it difficult to process properly. It seems to draw a lot of its style and feel from Requiem for a Dream.

A behemoth of a movie. A modern day LOTR-type scale of a movie. Every scene had such precision, whether it was the performance, sound, music, cinematography, or a combination of all of the above. Goosebumps multiple times throughout.

I loved the different conflicts and perspectives of each race and the deep religious undertones  and the extent to which they were all explored. Such a complicated story told in the best way possible.

    Denis, you bastard.

This is an all timer. And not necessarily just because of the craft, story and performances behind it, which are impeccable, but because it actually had a permanent impact on me and my perspective on certain aspects of life upon my first viewing.

This is a beautiful movie with beautiful messages that aren’t preached to you, but instead are presented to you in a way that allow you to wrestle with the outcome, whatever that may be for each person.…
