A film of pretty meagre ambition. It follows the events immediately after Jesse's liberation from his captors. It takes place over the course of a few days and concerns the practicalities of getting enough money to start a new life as well as revisitng (via flashback) some events from his past. Paul is as good as he ever was in the central role but it feels very much like an extended episode of the show as opposed to a film…

Did exactly what I wanted it to do. It took one of my favourite stories, which has been adapted more than any other, and did something new and fresh with it. Very funny and ridiculously, cartoonishly violent. Cage is having great fun and Hoult and Awkwafina make a solid comedy buddy duo. Well choreographed action and close to 90 mins. Only real downside is Ben Schwarz who is mis-cast and incredibly annoying.

That of Claudio and Hero is slightly less effective as Dead Poet's Society's Robert Sean Leonard overcooks…

Civil War is a film that MUST be seen in cinemas. It's an assault on the senses that will leave you absolutely shell-shocked. It's loud, brutal and exquisitely cinematic. At its heart, the film is a road trip taken by journalists as they journey to the dark, broken heart of America. Kristen Dunst is the grounded centre of the film. She's seen it all and is a reassuring presence. Cailee Spaeny is the protégé, bright eyed and bushy tailed but…
