So, YES I saw this movie a third time because GUESS who was there to talk afterwards… Ryûsuke Hamaguchi himself! My dream came true.
I think about listening…. a lot. I grew up around people who talked a lot, for hours on end, all the time. I used to resent listening as often as I had to because I don’t think people are always aware how much energy it requires.

i saw this movie very late at the angelika on
my birthday, and what i will say is that it had me finish my 27th bawling in the dark of a movie theater. this is definitely one of the best birthday movies i have ever seen; if i don’t spend part of my birthday crying in a movie theater, i didn’t do it right.
my mother finds this crazy but to that i say: if a film doesn’t ground me…
every man in this movie deserved a fork in the thigh... at least. AT LEAST!
