It’s hard to rate this movie in some ways because the subject content is very important to its message. I personally have not experienced the kind of loss this movie works to approach.

I may have given this movie an unduly low rating. It was charming, with a great central duo in Art Carney and Lily Tomlin. Still, it was a little too optimistic, a little too naive for me to comfortably put it in the neo noir category and it has what amounts to a happily ever after ending that didn’t sit right with me the first go round.
Vibey and full of intrigue. If you’re looking for jump scares, this ain’t it. But if you want to be steeped in the eerie Pacific North West fog or lost in the inky darkness of the mountain hollow then this flick is for you. For some added depth, look into the films source material.
