A Filipino film that has apparently been lost to time, according to Cinema Cartography. It tells the story of an overbearing father who refuses to relinquish control of his daughter. It does a great job of slowly building tension while touching on some dark subject material. Based on a true story, it will disturb you to the core and leave you haunted after seeing it.

A Separation 2011
The movie is a bit misleading, as the titular seperation is only a substory to the bigger conflict that arises. Although it does mainfest as a result of the two going through the process of divorce.
It presents a compelling story, a small courtroom conflict between two families over who and what caused a tragedy to occur. Well acted, well paced, doesn't ever drag or get boring. Easily deserving of it's Oscar win.
