  a curse is haunting this film — the curse of exposition. it manifests in complaints by all sides. for the uninitiated, the exposition is not enough to warrant any strong emotional reactions to character beats or garner any interest in the world, and for the followers of the franchise, it's just a retreading of old ground, further degrading the already abysmal pacing. trying to please everyone ironically serves no one, and only creates a vapid end result

  the vibrant and gritty colors sell the realism, and the overall amateurishness and aesthetic choices make this feel like an extended music video about urban community and meetings that occur by pure happenstance, followed by the dissolution/reinforcement of friendship that happens through them. also, there's definitely something about the act of walking here, i don't know what tho
