Marking Juror #2 as the last movie I watched in 2024!

I am genuinely amazed by the fact that Clint Eastwood, 93, directed this movie in all his glory. There is nothing new about this courtroom drama considering the existence of 12 Angry Men, yet it is refreshing in its own right. The movie is solid and a food for thought with nuanced storytelling. Obviously flawed, yet sentimentally satisfying for the connection to my childhood. While most of the songs are deemed unforgettable, one of them grows on me. Better than the original live-action film; Mufasa: The Lion King serves as a beautiful prequel that I know I will grow to appreciate its existence even more when I revisit The Lion King (1994) in the future.

I did not regret seeing it on Christmas Eve.

The story subtlety and themes like philosophy, politics, religion, ecology, and colonisation are what makes it all the more intriguing. Even though the film hasn't touched the utmost core of the Dune book series yet, every moment led up to the upcoming sequel is nothing less than a cinematic satisfaction.

"To have never gone to war is something to be proud of."

Those three years Takashi Yamazaki tirelessly spent working on Godzilla Minus One (ゴジラ-1.0) has been paid off. The franchise known as a metaphor for the trauma of war has come back alive once again. So painfully humane, it is heartbreaking. The character development is beautifully written. I love the slow burn pacing, it makes the final battle even more satisfying.
