Fabulous! Also a kind of gorgeous example of the intertextuality and magpie nature of filmmaking/art in general- hard to think of quite how many other films are in its DNA, and how many other things have nicked stuff from it.

One of those films about which I have nothing intelligent to say beyond let’s fucking rock- unceasingly inventive and energetic, quite unbelievably violent and with what felt like a real frothing rage at its core, it just goes to show quite how important it is to give Dev Patel shitloads of money.

As close to perfect as any film is going to get, really.
To say nothing of its utopian, childlike politics, the otherworldly beauty of basically everyone in it, and the unparalleled joy of Jack Lemmon’s laugh, it’s got to be one of the best scripts ever written right? Something hysterical happens more or less every ten seconds, and it’s so cool to see a film which is essentially just dialogue which is so unfailingly exciting and watchable.
