The Tragedy of Man 2011
Yeah, this did not do it for me.
I understand that covering “the tragedy of man” in film form constitutes a lengthy runtime, but it really felt like in trying to say everything this movie says nothing. If the film ended sooner I would’ve liked it more, but it just kept going and going and doubling down on what I didn’t like about it.
Also, the editing in certain sequences is kind of awful. And the way they kept using…

I absolutely adore this film. Clever concept, phenomenal screenplay, lovable characters, and so much heart. A beautiful story about coming to terms with who you are.
Other notes:
-John C. Reilly’s voice performance adds so much to Ralph’s character.
-The little ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ jokes:
“Anything to declare?”
“I hate you.”
“I get that a lot. Proceed.”“Hit a guy with glasses. Well played.”
-King Candy/Turbo is legitimately one of the most terrifying Disney villains of all time.
An all-around fun, heartfelt, and extremely well-crafted film.
