I realized what Zweig was going to do in that last scene early and grinned like an idiot through 90 seconds of the slowest slow-motion i've ever seen.
Loved the intensity of the sound in this movie, from the music kicking in during arguments, to the smack of the ball off the racket, to the explosion of Zendaya's knee. Everyone's talking about this being the sexiest movie of the year but as someone, frankly, more interested in sports than sex, I'm just glad to have the best sports movie of the decade so far

Trying to figure this one out in my head and square it with some reviews I've read. I don't think the case this movie is making is that the sex that Bella has is her journey of liberation and self-discovery, but if it's a movie about those two things, then it's a movie that chooses to display those things largely through sex! I guess whether you think that's the right frame/metaphor/etc. with which to talk about self-discovery and male control…
