  “I hope the block is still standing.”
  “We’re still standing” 

  The final shot of “normalcy” on the block is a gut punch because you can feel the heavy sadness in the air from the murder of the previous night, but as the shot zooms out, you can see people continuing on, it encapsulates the resiliency that the Black community has always had to summon in the face of tragedy and the ever present threat of police violence. To go on is how a community mourns, to go on is its own form of protest.

  The world building, the emotional journey, the theme of friendship … this is what I imagine  what happens to the animals who survive a mass extinction who have to endure a changing unpredictable environment. This movie rocked.
