Rewatching all my old film bro movies to see how they hold up, and I’m pleased to say, this one only gets better. Everything about this movie is pretty flawless. No notes

Killers of the Flower Moon is a cinematic triumph that manages to blend the Scorsese’s earlier, violence-driven style with the introspective, meditative approach he’s honed in recent years.

DiCaprio gives one of his most outstanding performances as Ernest Burkhart, a disgusting, slimy, pathetic, greedy, idiotic rat bag. It is unlike anything we’ve seen from him before. This isn’t a movie about the Zodiac killer or his grisly murders, or his identity, which may frustrate people (like Daniel Harper-Rigby). This is a movie about obsession and how it consumes people. The characters- Paul Avery, Dave Toschi, Robert Graysmith (all played excellently) and everyone else close to the case- are all driven by the need to solve the mystery, even at the cost of their own health, safety and sanity. It might be frustrating that we never get to see who the murderer is, but maybe that’s the point. Sometimes the pursuit of truth can be more dangerous than the mystery itself.
