Pretty okay! This movie made some of the Tumblr girlies go so rabid that I thought there was going to be more to it. Nothing terribly profound illustrated here, mostly just simple and straightforward story and character dynamics!

Pretty solid horror flick! Tightly paced, characters that I believed and found emotionally engaging, surprisingly judicious with its gore so that there are really just a few key moments used well to invoke revulsion. The titular "freak" is designed for maximum levels of repugnance and pity. I found Jeffrey Combs as a tormented recovering alcoholic awfully sympathetic; already desperate and pained before the murdering even starts. The movie is pretty narrow in its scope and doesn't try for any meaningful character arcs, but overall it feels deliberate and well-executed.
