  A film designed to not make sense, but which lodged itself so deeply into the consciousness that it is required to make sense of everything that came after.

  -Regarding my called shot from yesterday: John Ford’s The Iron Horse ends with two men shaking hands in front of a train. This begins likewise.
  -Mollie manages to get exactly three words out of Calvin Coolidge.
  -Lily Gladstone deserves all the acclaim she’s getting, but we also need to see a lot more of Cara Jade Myers.
  -People complained when The Irishman compressed decades of time using cutting edge special effects, so this compresses decades of time with 1940s special effects.
  -What holds this back for me is how performative DiCaprio’s permanent scowl feels. Hopefully it grows on me.
