  Classic rock - really really classic. Owes a tonne to the expressionism from the same time in Germany, but despite the same general aesthetic principles it’s grander. It is Hollywood, after all. The soft-focus close-ups of Chaney after the reveal is truly frightening, I can’t imagine what it must have felt like 100 years ago
