Star Wars: Return of the Jedi is the sequel to Empire Strikes Back and the conclusion of the original Star Wars trilogy. As a finale, Return of the Jedi is satisfying though as a movie has a few issues that makes me put it below ESB.

Starting on the negatives, the movie’s pacing is significantly slower than previous installments, especially compared to Empire Strikes Back which established the main conflict early on and didn’t waste any time during its…

Empire Strikes Back is the sequel to Star Wars: A New Hope, and one of my all-time favorite movies. It improves on A New Hope considerably, and has become a staple within media for its darker tone and having the good guys lose.

One of the issues with A New Hope was its pacing, which ESB does a wonderful job with. The movie holds your attention the entire time, never slowing down abruptly while still having some more quiet…

A cheesy serial B-movie that opened up the gates to a franchise and popularized the heroes’ journey, A New Hope is an entertaining adventure.

The movie does a fine job with the characters, who while could be fleshed out further, are all distinct and memorable enough to never be an issue.

The plot is straightforward, very much inspired by older adventure movies, and is fun to watch.

The main strengths of the movie however lie in its worldbuilding and…

    The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Learning nothing from Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 1, this movie doubles down on every issue they had.

    - An incoherent plot stuffed with multiple storylines that barely intertwine and take less than 30s of thinking to realize how many plotholes are within each.
    - Multiple villains struggling for screentime
    - Focus on setting up a universe
    - Little investment to the characters

It has a better soundtrack than TASM1, a more upbeat tone with far more memorable scenes, and some cool effects, but the movie otherwise has few legs to stand upon.
