Nickel Boys 2024
This is probably my first primarily 1st person shot movie. This is a huge creative risk that payed off big for me.
Sensational performances all around, and a huge empathy for our young protagonists displayed in every shot.
Finished the film, and immediately broke down. Cathartic, emotional and haunting.
Harrowing that this all happened within our grandparents, parents and our own lifetimes too.

The Taste of Things 2023
“Can I watch you eat?” moved me.
What a beautiful line, and one that really encapsulates the whole film. Dodin and Eugenie have such a rich, tender and intimate relationship that resembles their mutual approach to food, this sort of delicate passion in their everyday.
Eugenie’s continued refusal to be his wife, and Dodin’s continued attempts are even more beautiful - she correctly notes that the wife title gives away her power, but I think what’s more important for her…

Dune: Part Two 2024
I’ve had some time to think about this one. Simply put, this is one of the great sci-fi films of the 21st century. It is by no means perfect - but what Villeneuve and cast and crew manage to achieve here is exceptional. Absolutely exceptional.
The film is technically a masterpiece. The set design, practical effects, cinematography, and CGI are masterful. The relevant teams continue to show us a world that is fully fleshed out, lived in and deeply imaginative.…
