American Psycho 2000
Patrick Bateman is the Mary-Sue of toxic masculinity. While the plot of American Psycho would leave the film in the middle of the road, Christian Bale’s astounding performance completely carries it. There definitely are moments that felt like unintentional comedy, but the absolute absurdity of it all merely enhanced the experience. While I would say I like the film, the ending was dry and melodramatic. I might watch again, but I won’t necessarily be going out of my way for it.
