Minari 2020
Grandma was, without a doubt, the standout of this film, and I wish we had more time to explore her character. The performances, especially little Alan Kim's, were truly remarkable. However, despite the dramatic undertones, the two-hour runtime, and the film festival production, the story felt largely flat and emotionally detached. The anticlimactic ending, with a simplified and awkward resolution, and which bypasses many of the earlier conflicts, left me feeling very unsatisfied.
