A Complete Unknown 2024
The first time I watched this I was too focused on the chronology and facts of things that I distracted myself from just sitting back and enjoying what I was watching.
On a second viewing I was able to let go of all that and enjoy all the lovely performances - particularly Ed Norton and Elle Fanning.

Gladiator II 2024
Oh Paulie I loved your non-specific Brit gravely accent and your very meaty Gaelic football thighs but Denzel stole this movie away from you bud.
Denzel was crushing every single scene he was in and loving his caftans and rings. His line readings were perfect, every look on his face and gesture etc. made the movie 1000x better.
I turned off my historical brain and enjoyed this big stupid movie for what it was. Solid cast and a fun watch.
Not quite the star making turn for Mescal as an action star but he was serviceable in a big blockbuster movie.

All of Us Strangers 2023
“It’s okay, it was a long time ago”
“I don’t think that matters”This movie made me feel loneliness & grief in a way that acknowledges that maybe you shouldn’t always push those feelings down and away.
I don’t really understand what happened at the end of this movie. I mean I know what happened but don’t understand how all the puzzle pieces fit together. But I’m okay with that I think.
I admire Paul Mescal for agreeing to be in another movie where he is sad and naked. Homeboy knows his niche- making people sad and horny at the same time.
