  Remember being blown away by this when I saw it as a kid. Having since read the Auster book and developed an allergy to certain 90s indie elements (that jazz score is egregious), it didn't bowl me over this time around (maybe the VHS quality rip on Pluto didn't help). However... the performances! Grey and Durning drip with a casual, almost childlike, evil. And this might be my favorite Walsh turn, which is saying something.

  Scumbag Mitchum hunts a maybe-ethereal mountain lion whilst some Harold Pinter-esque kitchen sink nightmare unfolds on the homestead... this was an unexpected delight.
