baseball as the embodiment and means of the ritual, habitual, unspoken practices of friendship; to form a true and lasting community around Play is maybe as close as we get to Paradise, even if the actualization means inevitable loss (of your prime and your ability) and disappointment (at the result) and frustration (with your people and at the many factors outside of your control)

anyways, hit me hard! baseball should be a human right

    Wild at Heart

    ★★★★½

Lynch’s command—the seamless shifts between “swooningly romantic” and “completely demented”, for example—is unbelievable. gasped every time nic started singing. “my life a movie fr” but it’s the wizard of oz; we’ve all been there

appallingly self-indulgent, hagiographic, and pretentious; worse than that, uninteresting! filmed like an artsy commercial, written like a half-assed first draft of an atlantic article about lifestyle. made me hate artists

genuinely feel scammed having had to watch it to watch the artist play guitar live (for a shockingly inflated price, no less!). stick to the world class classical guitar playing, Jose!

    ★★

unreal levels of pointlessness in this one. can’t believe how many bad jokes there were and how many jokes were just “the BEAR did COCAINE” and “this CHARACTER dropped an F-BOMB”. too many characters, embarrassing attempts at emotional resonance, don’t think they succeeded in making the bear on cocaine be convincingly sneaky. okay gore
