Party Girl 1995
Minus the racist middle eastern stuff that does not hold up, this movie is pretty fucking perfect. The length, the womanhood, the friendship, the reality of having to choose a career & maintain outside joy. Also, I'm so sad that no one listened to her story when she stayed up all night learning the Dewey Decimal System. 😭 Listen to women and their triumphs! Let's gas each other up. More girl power movies like this. PS: the falafel cart motif, the music, WHERE HAVE I BEEN ?!

Gorgeous animation, I think I saw it too late in life to appreciate the whimsy of certain parts, and other times felt that the first 40 min were stronger than the rest of it, didn't love the morality implications, but ultimately it was a cute movie about imagination and a giant furry neighbor

It's my first version of this story that I've seen but I was absolutely blown sway by the pace, the cinematography, and the constant emotion of every scene. The sounds and settings were perfectly balanced and everything seems intentional. There are a few scenes that don't need to be in it, but there is merit in them, at least first time around.
