So so good!!!! Was on the edge of my (airplane) seat the entire time. In addition to being a genuinely gripping thriller, there is a ton of complex social commentary on class, immigration and xenophobia threaded throughout. Absolutely loved it.
Loved this little vignette of childhood in rural Mass—really captured the feeling of being a kid, in all its isolation and longing and whimsical psychedelia. It’s an honest look at single motherhood (Janet) and the way the supporting characters in Janet’s life shape her child’s worldview for better or worse. Critics might say about this movie that ”nothing really happens” because it’s not plot driven, but I’d argue that the film accomplishes a lot by offering some complicated truths about humanity without hitting us over the head with them.
