In some respects films like Groundhog Day, Source Code, and Edge of Tomorrow prepared us for Mickey 17. Yet, narratively and visually, director Bong Joon Ho masters all the tropes of those and similar films, while completely entertaining us with something strikingly original.

The Invisible Man 2020
Hard to determine what exactly I didn't like about this alleged remake of the original Universal classic. Writer/Director Leigh Whannell obviously has the skills to bring any compelling story to the screen so I'll have to blame his writing skills. Nothing worked for me.

Technically astute, well-cast but overwritten and overlong by two hours. However, with some judicious editing, The Signal could easily have been a two-hour sci-fi thriller, rather than a four-hour miniseries that made most of us cranky.
