I don’t think any other film has ever been able to deal with such heavy subject matter as deftly and respectfully as ‘The Brutalist’ does. Sexism, sexuality, racism, xenophobia, addiction, Eurocentric beauty standards, ableism - NAME EM it’s here somewhere. There’s a quality to this film that just felt incredibly lived in and honest; often aspired to, rarely achieved.
The writing, acting, editing and visuals are incredibly well done and thought out until…..
