Even though it's different in many ways, there are a surprising number of similarities with the 80s movie, Ghostwriter, another movie where a woman starts unexpectedly starts seeing her aunt who died before she was born, can't remember how she died, and helps the woman learn valuable life lessons.

James Nguyen movies are all basically movies where a dorky guy who does something with comptuer software/sales meets an attractive blonde lady and then has a relationship with her for a while before the plot eventually kicks in. With this movie, James finally broke the mould. The lead isn'ta dorky computer sales guy. He's a dorky gerontology guy! Beacuse presumably James got fascinated about the science of aging at some point in the last decade.

When I saw that this was PG-13 I was worried it was going to take the fun out of the alligator attack and rampage scenes. But turns out this movie has neither the budget or the ability to pull off even halfway interesting alligator shots anyway so it was a moot point.
