My credibility is at an all time low after my whole “you haven’t seen Parasite?! It was amazing!” sales pitch to go watch this. It felt familiar (Something about the tone, environment and creatures felt low key reminiscent of Tank Girl + other references to me) but unfortunately, it just didn’t bring the depth, charm or consistency I was craving.

I’m conflicted on this one.
I watched Los Frikis in a nearly full South Florida theater. I was moved hearing the audience whisper-sing along to Lágrimas Negras. Like really, how lucky are we? Watching this from the literal seat of privilege: leather recliners in a big American theatre inside of a luxury shopping mall. and luckier still that it was a great story, beautifully shot, brought to life with stellar performances.
