Barbie 2023
Went to watch this movie with zero expectations, only excitement for a nostalgia trip. And while it was indeed a nostalgia trip, bringing back memories of weaving intricate stories for each of my Barbies as a child, I was also smacked in the face with a fascinating women's empowerment arc. A fantastically silly plot with a strong undercurrent of feminism and gender empowerment. The only thing I did not like was how... cliched, perhaps, some of the dialogue felt.
