  other than denzel having an absolute blast and the grandness of the big set pieces, I don’t have many positive things to say about gladiator II. The runtime dragged, the plot meandered, and its similarities to the first film only lead me to think about how gladiator is a much superior film. the cgi baboons and sharks looked SO bad, which really cheapened those sequences. the characters’ motivations were murky at best (pedro pascal I’m looking at u bb), and the emotional core of the film did not have its intended (or needed) impact, mainly bc connie nielsen's performance was not very good.

  Certainly have not gathered my thoughts enough to sound even remotely intelligent here so I’ll just say this: part one is absolutely sensational and part two is less so, but still good.

  Felicity Jones is wildly miscast, and cannot carry her one big scene. Although I’m a bit undecided on the second half and the epilogue, there’s so much to love about the brutalist. Adrien Brody left me speechless several times, but Guy Pearce absolutely steals the show. Cant believe I’m saying this, but I already want to see this again.
