I have *thoughts* about depictions of self harm in film. The Lobster is the last film I walked out of—due to depictions of self harm. Now I know that Yorgos Lanthimos will ALWAYS include self harm in his films, and, oddly, I feel like he wields self-harm in a way that’s understandable to people who understand self hate in the context of relationship to others. Big shrug. It’s a lot to take in, but it resonates with me.
