  dumb, but entertaining

  actual nonsense, though it’s not like it’s SUPPOSED to make much sense, lol. so many twists. like genuinely infuriating final plot twist. yet somehow i kinda want to rewatch bc Knowing the twist this time could be a fun viewing experience (or could just give me a headache)

  random transphobia jumpscare! also lowkey sexist writing that i can’t properly explain Why but feels . ick. + can confirm i’m still a hater of forced romantic subplots

  excited to see what fun trash the sequel is :3

  first, the good: this was pure VIBES nearly all throughout

  willem dafoe my GOAT in this, I gotta see him in The Lighthouse, I gotta watch more of him. (that line abt isaac newton >>>>) everyone’s acting was pretty great imo, but dafoe nailed something abt the absurd humor I got from the majority of the ‘horror’ scenes in this that genuinely got me stifling laughter in the theater countless times xD like, his demeanor somehow matched the earnest silliness…

  stupid as fuck hahahaaa
  i think the plus sides for me were:
  - man-on-man action
  - denzel being denzel despite being given some shit dialogue at times (maybe even overdoing it lol. in a good way)
