‘do you see how people love you?’

i have never felt so spiritually connected to two characters so much in my life. the desire to be loved, to be seen and to be truly known. so much is said without having to draw too much attention to the heavy subject matter and it truly felt so human. aren’t we so lucky to be able to love, even when it’s hard?

    ‘we can’t blame ourselves’
‘but we made him, didn’t we?’

    oh. my. god.
truly such a hard hitting important exploration of youth secrecy, masculinity and violence. rarely do we ever get to see the impact that crimes have on unknowing, uninvolved, loving families and the truly fatal grief they withstand. a scarily accurate representation of youth culture nowadays and the distance that’s prevalent between parents and their kids

i truly was floored and invested in every single second. i have lost so much sleep this week thinking about every single episode. phenomenal acting, incredible camera work, and a truly harrowing storyline.

this. this is the australian cinema that i want. mundane, raw, confronting and human. the performances were so grounded and guttural, and i truly believe that australians have so much potential with emotional and meaningful stories if we just TRY.
