everybody seems to have a different interpretation of this movie but actually it is about the lengths that one man will go for some mentally ill pussy, very sympathetic story

shockingly contentious. mcdonagh’s portrayal here of complex, morally grey, changing characters seems to alienate people more than it engages them. couldnt disagree more with interpretations that the film is simplistic or overly-sympathetic.

one of those definitive under-appreciated films in a director’s catalogue (à la Jackie Brown, Insomnia)
despite the creative differences and chunky pacing it stands the test of time as one of the landmark historical epics. cinematography is breathtaking, choreography excellent, and it combines on point performances and emotional scenes with a swelling, gorgeous score which immediately brings out the passions of this incredible journey.
