Monster Hunter 2020
Probably PWSA’s movie with the “most action”, since exposition is mostly absent. Usually, like in the Resident Evil movies, there’s a big fat exposition dump or two followed by loads of action until the credits roll. The same goes for Death Race (2008). Here, however, everything is learnt by Artemis (Milla Jovovich) through first-hand observation and with guidance from Hunter (Tony Jaa), so I was more enthusiastic to move forward and learn more about this strange fantasy land than when I played Monster Hunter: World (2018) for the first time and got dumped with a bunch of different menus and endless tutorial dialog pop-ups.

The Fate of the Furious 2017
The Fate of the Furious would have been a perfect movie. It pits our family against its most formidable foe yet: a person so deluded by their self-perceived cunning, when all the thinking and doing is always done by someone else. All Cipher (Charlize Theron) does is force Dom (Vin Diesel) to submit to her, force him to do all the work, and yet still musters the arrogance to grandstand about “choice.” Nevertheless, like always, the doers save the day…
