Sad to say that it wasn’t great. Had a cool concept and idea but took it in a direction that didn’t feel consistent. A slow first act, corny second act, mediocre third act. Lacking character development and poor acting besides the child. I appreciated the films production and the third act still had some good moments to it but nothing crazy.

This film throws so many things at you that I just loved to take in. All that being in mostly sad ways; I like sad movies. This film made me cry. This film made me laugh…but more so cry. The character development was one of the stronger parts of this film and I really endured that. It respects its writing, and respects and portrays many things in phenomenal ways like suicide awareness, veteran homelessness, depression, fatherhood, and even Faith.

Theatrically repressed in November and I WILL be seeing it again.

Though I wouldn’t consider it the “10/10 masterpiece” IGN claims it to be, it’s still a fascinating show.

The political war of 16th century Japan was heavily interesting and this show portrayed it in a way that honestly had me glued in the majority of the time. The show wasn’t heavy on violence or samurai battles, but more so with the story and character development; all that ends almost respectfully and stunningly. The slow burn in pace was a smart decision to make and our English character was someone I liked a part of the story.

I spent a week processing this film. A completely phenomenal movie by all means. The way this film portrays the collision of priests and buddhists in 17th century of Japan felt immersive to take in. Faith is represented in crazy ways in this film that I really enjoyed.
