  Alien: Covenant 2017

  Shit slaps. Same amount of breathtaking spectacle and worldbuilding as Prometheus with the added bonus of making us actually give a shit about the characters and plot. We actually get some action in this movie and there's a distinct lack of plot being driven forward by idiotic characters unlike its predecessors (except in one scene where the captain trusts David and looks inside an egg for some reason lol).

  A very Whelming movie. A lot of important scenes cut for seemingly no reason. Filmmakers seemed scared to flesh it out to its full potential, and boy it had SO much potential. Thankfully Covenant does a much better job at being what Prometheus was trying to be.

  Alien Resurrection 1997

  ★★★½ Watched 01 Aug 2023

  Actually surprisingly decent. Went into it thinking it'd be a train wreck but it explored some dope concepts with some interesting characters and definitely redeemed the franchise after the disaster that was Alien 3. Ripley being a sarcastic bitch all film and not really giving a shit about anything was a fresh take on the character. Not much else to say, cool film.

  It utterly fails at both at being both a sci-fi and a horror film. 80% of the shots of the xenomorph had me uncontrollably laughing rather than draw any sense of awe or fear, it looks so bad. The only redeemable parts were Charles Dance and Signourney Weaver, and some of the worldbuilding. An incel prison colony was genuinely a dope concept but the rest of the movie is an absolute slog.
