or should I say “Lupin 3rd: Hayao Miyazaki doing his thing not respecting the fanbase”?
The movie was critically acclaimed, people saw a young mastermind in him, someone who is able to let scenes feel alive - the audience on the other side didn’t like it. It almost cost Hayao Miyazaki’s career because it was a financial failure and as such he was perceived as a director who isn’t able to draw in big audiences.

I’ve watched The Ultimate Cut, while I’m glad I did it, I don’t think I will in future screenings, because the extra minutes don’t really add anything important to the movie, it just intensifies what is shown.
This is what Zack Snyder does the best, adapting a screenplay with powerful imagery. While the visuals definitely aged, they’re still not milk, they’re more like a middle-class red wine that tries to be a high priced one.
Even though the story is set in 1985 it is unfortunately contemporary, entering a new phase of military buildup worldwide - the doomsday clock is ticking.
